Yesterday was the 3rd time in 2 years I have had the pleasure of being knocked out by Dr Das (No we are not sparing partners) each time Dr Das has been throughly professional and approachable and puts patients at ease. He is a should become an ambassador for the plain English society, his explanations of procedures are simple to understand and not made confusing by jargon a mere mortal like myself would not understand. On this visit Dr Das was being shadowed by a student doctor who attempted to place the needle in my hand at first and didnt quiet achieve her aim (Hey everyone has to learn and I am always willing to let people try so I wasnt bothered she missed). Dr Das then used my other hand and as I am quiet nosy was listening into his guidence for the student (after listening I think I could do it) his instructions to her were clear and plain and hopefully she will develop. Hopefully if I need knocking out again Dr Das will be on hand to perform it.

The one to one discussion and the interest taken in me before, during and after my operation by Dr Das and his team was greatly appreciated, as it put me at my ease. It gave me clear understanding of what would happen, at every step of the way and I knew I would be fully supported by all the staff throughout my stay. They were attentive but not obtrusive and maintained the right balance of input at the appropriate times over the course of the day. Their calm, caring, supportive and wholly professional attitude, without being overbearing or dictatorial was just what was required and instilled me with nothing but confidence. I felt complete trust in them as a team and also felt that I mattered to them.

I feel that the Dr's looked after me well, however, the after care on the ward could have been better for example; they could have offered to help me wash on more occasions. No one offered to help me in the shower once, I was in the hospital for five days. If I had visitors the cleaners did not come into the room to clean, which would not have been a problem.
